Communication & Advocacy
Amplifying women's voices, sharing knowledge, and creating an enabling environment for women's political participation
Creating an Enabling Environment
The Communication Programme is designed to facilitate an enabling environment for women's rights to participate in politics and in the development agenda of Zimbabwe. We believe that access to accurate, timely, and relevant information is foundational to meaningful political participation.
Through strategic communication and advocacy, we work to transform the political landscape by ensuring that women are not just informed but are also equipped to use that information effectively. Our programme bridges the gap between policy documents and grassroots understanding, making complex legal and political concepts accessible to all women across Zimbabwe.
Our Communication Philosophy
We believe that information is power. When women have access to clear, accurate, and actionable information about their rights, political processes, and advocacy opportunities, they are better positioned to claim their space in decision-making arenas.
Campaigns That Drive Change
Strategic advocacy campaigns designed to increase women's political representation and participation
50/50 Campaign
The 50/50 Campaign is WiPSU's flagship advocacy initiative targeting a cross-political increase in women's political candidature. Launched in November 2006, this campaign motivates and facilitates for women not just to vote but to stand for political office at all levels.
Vote for a Woman Campaign
This campaign puts pressure on political parties to ensure 50% representation of women in Parliament and local authorities. It encourages voters to actively support women candidates at the polls, recognizing that electoral outcomes are shaped by both party nominations and voter choices.
Information Dissemination
Packaging and sharing pertinent information to strengthen the knowledge base of women across Zimbabwe
Constitutional Literacy
We simplify complex constitutional provisions into accessible, easy-to-understand formats that empower women to know and claim their rights. Our constitutional literacy materials cover:

We demystify electoral laws and processes to ensure women fully understand their rights and responsibilities as voters and candidates. Our electoral education covers:
